Art from the Heart Six week creative healing journey with psychic artist & metaphysical healer Gina Bowyer
Explore various aspects of your life, heart and soul to both celebrate and heal these creatively.
This six week course will introduce you to new materials and avenues for creative expression and self discovery. I’ve taken inspiration from the numerological symbolism behind the number of each session and have designed activities to help us explore and heal each of these aspects as they are reflected within our own personal universe and life experiences. £120 per person - tickets available through the Waterside arts Centre. Option to book individual sessions depending on availability at £20 per session.
All materials and refreshments are included. There will also be ongoing online support from me for the duration of the course should you desire communication around any shifts, insights that come up as a result of the sessions. Each session will start with a short meditation.
Who is it for?
Anyone wanting to grow, find balance, have fun and discover a gentle and affordable way of doing this creatively.
Course outline (For an expanded course outline please go to the bottom of this page) Using the symbolism behind the number of each session as a base, we will focus on each of these aspects of ourselves holistically. Each session will begin with a short meditation. There will also be homework based on each session with the aim of keeping the momentum going and bringing the shifts into your life as far as you feel comfortable. Homework is optional but encouraged. We will also be sharing with each other along the way as we can learn a lot about ourselves from others however this is voluntary and privacy is respected at all times.

Tutor I have trained in the healing arts of Metaphysical Healing, Reiki, Reflexology and Massage Therapy and have been practicing the art of meditation for many years. I have always been creative but really discovered my artistic abilities when in senior school and went on to do a foundation year in Fine Arts in South Africa. I then worked as a fabric artist for four years, did a jewellery making apprenticeship and learnt wood carving amongst other things. Creative by nature I have applied the healing dynamics of art to my own life. I also use art as a means of exposing what lies in the subconscious and to depict energies that are all around us. You’ll be working with someone who is facilitating from the heart and who has learnt from experience.
What will you gain? E-mail support from me throughout the 6 week duration of the course to support you through any shifts that may arise. New ways of getting to know yourself using basic art materials….and you will be shown techniques of working with these materials however the focus is not on achieving an artistic result. The real benefit will be within yourself and this carries through to all aspects of your life.

Expanded course outline - Techniques for each material will be shared but there are NO rules or limitations! Week One - we will consider our family ties, our roots, our traditions and how we feel about these. We will consider survival, birth, connection to the energy of Father, creative life force, leadership. Where this is working and where this is blocked in our lives. Materials - Clay/twigs/stones/pine cones - a good way to ease us into the first week as we can really get stuck in without fear of "making any mistakes" as clay can be broken down and built up again and again while working through all the energy. Theme - create a tree and or a living structure out of clay. There will also be twigs, pine cones and other natural earthy elements that you can add to your structure. Homework - A2 sheet provided for you to draw/cut out pictures of everything in your life that is linked to this aspect of home, survival, father, etc including how you feel about this - this can be abstract/realistic/symbolic. The aim is to reflect on this during the process of creation.
Week Two- Feminine energy of balance and seeking harmony between two opposites which can only be done when both opposites are approaching each other with openness. We consider conflict, resolution, differences, connectedness to all, mothering, balance. How we have experienced this theme. Materials - Chalk & Oil pastels/Charcoal/pencil Theme - Create two images. One focusing on what your life feels like when you consider opposing, oppressive situations or circumstances that are present or when we are opposing other or acting out of fear of differences. Create a second image about opening up to these fears of opposites, about not being oppressed anymore, about a life free of conflict. There will be lots of large pieces of sketch paper to loosen up on for those who struggle to settle into one or two images only. Homework - To do something creative for someone in your life that you have a tendency to be in conflict with. Anything from cooking a meal, drawing a picture, writing them a short poem, inviting them to go for a walk with you, making them a card or a compilation CD.
Week Three - Expression of emotions and creativity, considering the thought that we are more than just a body, how we express these emotions when they are felt strongly, or are they barely there? Limitations of having a physical body...what would you do if you weren't bogged down by a body? How would you behave differently towards others if you believed that you were eternal? How would you be towards yourself? Materials - Canvas board/tissue paper/acrylic paint/watercolour/glue - the aim is to look at layers/transparency/overlapping/dimensions of self Theme - to create an image depicting the relationship or "layout" of your physical body with your soul, spirit or emotional body and/or mind, depict you without the physical limitations of your body...which emotions would you have the courage to express if there were no physical consequences? Homework - choose one word or short phrase that captures something you have always wanted to say to someone, always wanted to express or do but have held yourself back for fear of being "childish", "idealistic", "silly", "selfish". Positive or negative connotations as long as it's true to you. Create an image of this phrase using the colours, shapes and images to really express everything linked to it that holds meaning for you.
Week Four - Masculine, practical earth bound energy focusing on stability and structure as opposed to creativity. Considering when self control and control of others is necessary and destructive. We'll consider how we feel about chaos or "out of control" situations. We consider how it feels to be controlled. We'll think about the humbleness of being plain and fitting in and how to balance this with allowing ourselves to be authentic and unique - does this create internal conflict? We look at Response Ability vs Reaction. Goal setting and self discipline. Materials - pens/pencils/rulers/stencils/felt tips/highlighters/card/tape Theme - Draw a picture of a heart. One half is "in control" the other is "out of control" - include words, symbols etc. Focus will be on using drawing techniques that also reflect control vs no control. drawing with eyes closed. Drawing an "upside down" picture to challenge our need to control the outcome. Homework - Consider one personal goal that you have been avoiding. Notice what excuses you come up with to avoid attaining this goal. Think of ways to achieve this goal. Share with me or the class if you want motivation/ideas on how you can bypass these "excuses " so that you can achieve this goal. Take a different route to work, shop at a different shop or cook a meal without following a recipe at least once this week.
Week Five - The dynamic life force that needs constant change and defies limitations. How this features in our lives in terms of restlessness vs stagnation, adaptability to change and the maturity to commit, complete and express in ways that are considerate towards others point of view. We reflect on the wisdom we have gained through "negative" experiences and find at least one point of growth that came from that, leading to wisdom. Is there anything we want/need to rebell against? How can we do this is a way that is constructive? How do we feel about taking risks? How do we use addictions or bad habits with places/people/things to avoid making a change? Is there a creative way around this? Materials - mixed media - all materials will be available including paint/pastels/fabric/clay/paper/pens etc - all materials must be used! Create something either on a 2D surface or in 3D depicting what you feel symbolises a "dynamic force". How do you need to bring more of this into your life? Or does it need taming? Homework - How do feel about not knowing what tomorrow holds? Write about this or draw a picture to depict how you feel about this. Take note of any fears that come up? How can you deal with this? Are you ok living in the moment? Depict this. Or do you avoid looking at the future meaning that you fail to plan? How does this affect things?
Week Six - Unconditional love towards self and others. Being the caretaker, caring about family, community and oneness. Considering our impact on the bigger picture. When have we been loved conditionally? How did that make you feel? When have you loved conditionally? Do we project our self criticism onto others? When are we giving to the point of being self sacrificing? Do we need to set any boundaries in our lives with people/situations? What belief is stopping us from doing that? With this energy we realise that we are one. Anything that we cannot love in others is something that has not been loved within us. When we approach this with unconditional love we heal that element both within ourselves and others. Materials - your favourite material(s) from the previous weeks. All will be available. Decide on a symbol/colour/image of what love, compassion, empathy is to you. Then make a gift for someone and / or for yourself. Challenge yourself by making something for someone who you usually struggle to give to, even if that is yourself :) Homework - Take a brief look through your childhood. Choose a moment from your childhood which made you feel unloved, misunderstood, rejected. Remember that you are still that child but are now old enough to give yourself the love, acceptance and nurturing you needed at that time. What does this child want to do? Dance? Share a hug with a friend? Tell someone how you feel? Go out and have fun or treat yourself to a nice meal/new clothes? Similarly, think of a wonderful childhood memory and if there is anyone in your life that you can thank for that, make an effort to tell them just how much you appreciate it and do something nice for them in return.
